Tempo Detection

Playing the song at a constant tempo is important to ensure a great performance. Too often bands may pick the wrong tempo to start a song which results in tempo drift as the drummer and other musicians search for the proper tempo. One way to prevent confusion is to pick a tempo and save it with the song. OnSong makes this easy through a built-in metronome that uses the saved BPM of the song. However, how do we find the tempo when the song sounds "just right"?

The OnSong® app features tempo detection which uses the built-in microphone to listen for a beat. Whether your band is playing the song or you're clapping along, tempo detection with learn the beat and update the tempo configured for the song. Once determined, the OnSong® app automatically stops listening and records the change. The metronome is then available to keep you and your team in time and tempo.

Tempo Detection replaces the ability to acquire the tempo from the MIDI clock, if used. Tempo Detection continues to listen for tempo via MIDI Clock and will use that information first and foremost if available, falling back to using the built-in microphone otherwise.
