ChordFlow™ PDF Transposition
ChordFlow™ is a new technology from OnSong® that is able to detect musical information like chords in PDF files. These chords can then be transposed and formatted while also interacting with them.
Currently, ChordFlow™ requires text-based PDF files and does not work with scanned images. Once chords are discovered, the font is matched and new chords are overlaid. This allows you to change how the chords look and the key of the final PDF document. For instance, the PDF file may be in the key of G and start with that chord. If you transpose the song into the key of D, the app will replace the G-chord with a D-chord. Other changes also apply such as capo and chord styles like superscript.
*ChordFlow™ requires that a key is known to handle the transposition of chords. You may be prompted to Enable Transposition in the Chords Tab of the Style Preferences Menu. This will detect the key of the song and add that information to the PDF file attachment. If a key cannot be found, you can provide it manually through the Attachments Menu. To do this, tap and hold on the PDF attachment to open the Context Menu and then choose Properties. This will open the Edit Attachment Screen you can set the key.
Additionally, OnSong can change the font color and highlight color of the font. All of these are added to the Chords tab in the Style Preferences menu allowing PDF files to have similar functionality to text-based chord charts. Since the OnSong® app can convert other file types to PDF files on-the-fly, you could be able to customize chords on many other file types as well.
