Sets allow you to perform songs for a specific event. To create a set, you tap on the + button in the set list to open the set editor. Here you can specify the following information about the set.
Title
The title of the set is optional. If provided, the set name is displayed in lists. If omitted, the date and time of the set is displayed instead.
Date/Time
The date for the set is required and will automatically choose the current date, or the next date when if you have enabled typical days. You can also optionally set a time for the set by tapping on the No Time button to enable time and choose a time. When a time is selected, the OnSong® app can list songs and moments in the set list with the time they are performed if you set a duration on songs.
Today's date or the nearest typical day is automatically selected. If you have more than a few sets and add another, OnSong will prompt if you would like to schedule sets on Typical Days. If you agree, OnSong will evaluate your sets to determine what days of the week you usually create sets. You can change this preference by tapping on the wrench icon to open the Typical Days Settings screen.
Options
The following are options that can be configured to control how the OnSong® app behaves for this set.
Folders
Tapping on this field will display the Choose Folder Screen, allowing you to choose one or more folders in which the set should be placed. If you've already selected a folder, the set you are creating is automatically added to that one without requiring you to choose additional folders. Optional.
Playback Continuity
If you are using backing tracks in your set, this setting allows you to play through all the backing tracks like a playlist. The default setting can be found in Settings » Live Settings » Audio Playback.
- Off requires that each audio track be played with user interaction or a trigger.
- On allows audio tracks to play through all songs in a set without user interaction.
- Repeat allows audio tracks in a set to be played back continuously. Once the last audio track in the set is played, the first audio track in the set will be started.
Scenes
Scenes can be used to set lyrics projection backgrounds as well as handle stage lighting. You can assign a scene to the set to change the background color, image, or video behind lyrics as well as colors for your stage lights when the set is loaded.
Separate Styles
Sets contain songs from your master library. But what if you want to change the key of a song in a set without affecting the song in your master list? You can use separate styles. This will allow you to style and transpose songs in this set without affecting the master song library. Options include.
- Default uses the settings that you have configured under the Utilities Menu » Settings » Menu Settings » Songs » Sets.
- Off saves any changes you make to the song within the set to your master library. This will not affect other sets that have Separate Set/Song Styles turned on.
- On saves any changes made to the set and not to the master library or any other set.
Preferred Keys
Some musicians prefer to perform or play in specific keys. Perhaps you have a certain vocal range or are learning to play an instrument. These settings allow you to have songs automatically transposed or capoed to match your preferences.
Performance Keys
This option lets you choose the keys that work best when you are performing. For instance, you may preferred to sing in the keys of G or A. In that case, you can choose G and A. OnSong will make sure that the final key of the song is in one of those keys by transposing to the closest key.
Playable Keys
This option lets you choose the keys that you can play in. For instance, you may be learning guitar or piano and have not become an expert in keys with more sharps or flats. You can choose keys you're comfortable playing here like C, D, and G. OnSong will capo the song to make it playable in one of the preferred keys for performance.
